To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the visit of President John F. Kennedy to New Ross, Wexford County Council undertook a major development of the site where JFK delivered his speech to the people of Ireland. A new hardwood timber boardwalk leads to the Emigrant Flame at the Dunbrody Visitor Centre.
The cantilevered Ekki boardwalk marries together the precision steelwork with natural material. As the main contractor, we were active in developing the Emigrant Flame sculpture in partnership with the company behind the London 2012 Olympic Torch. The Emigrant Flame was carried from Arlington Cemetery to New Ross and continues to burn 24 hours a day.
