With the Quays in Waterford having a history of flooding, Waterford City Council undertook the first phase of their flood alleviation works in this area of the city. The vision was not to take from the grand vista of the river that is an integral part of the city. As a result, the works primarily consist of almost one kilometre of glass flood wall.
Our responsibilities included all preparatory works for the glass walling. We designed and developed the system of glass walling to meet the requirements of the consultant engineer's brief. The location of the contract within the historical part of the city required a very high standard of workmanship, in particular to the subsequent streetscaping, whilst always respecting the archaeological importance of the area.
